I have been involved in the sport of racing pigeons for 50 years and race twelve pairs to a small back garden and only send eight to ten birds a week to my club and three or four to Specialist Races ie. NWCC, NFC & Open Races. I keep 15 pairs of stock birds in total and my strains at stock are BUSSCHAERTS, JAN HUIJBREGTS, JANSSENS, GEOFF KIRKLANDS Alphonse Bauwens Desmet Matthys family.
BUSSCHAERTS
I bought my first Busschaerts 35 years ago from a Fancier in the North East, over the years I have developed my strain by seeking out and purchasing Busschaerts that have either bred Combine Winners or have topped the Combine themselves including two sons bred from Scottish National Winners.
JAN HUIJBREGTS
I purchased my Jan Huijbregts four years ago, some directs and again the criteria I made was to buy the best, breeders of Combine Winners.
JANSSENS
Twenty years ago I purchased top class Janssens from English Fanciers Albert Tarleton and Louella. Around this time I purchased a Grand daughter off Wereldmiester winner of 15 x 1st Combines and a daughter of the Famous Janssen cock ARJAN. Recent introductions to my Janssen family were purchased at the late Graham Pearce's bereavement sale from his exceptional team of combine winners.
GEOFF KIRKLANDS
ALPHONSE BAUWENS DESMET MATTYS FAMILY
I introduced the Kirklands pigeons five years ago to compete in the longer distance races. I sent two Kirklands to Saintes in the NFC 2006 570 miles and timed on the day in 14 1/2 hours.
